Kwadaso Agricultural College Leads Digital Transformation in Ghana’s Agricultural Education

A Milestone for Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education

Kwadaso Agricultural College (KAC) has positioned itself at the forefront of modern agricultural training in Ghana, hosting a landmark three-day workshop that equipped staff and educators with the skills to deliver world-class online and blended learning.

From 19th to 21st August 2025, KAC's Kumasi campus served as the venue for the Awareness of the Online Learning Process workshop — a flagship activity under the Erasmus+ Ghana EDU 2023 CB-VET project. The initiative, delivered in collaboration with the Maastricht School of Management (MSM) and Bunash Enterprise and Farms, is part of a broader effort to modernise technical and vocational education and training (TVET) across Ghana's agricultural sector.

The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Sandra Adriaansens, Senior Manager in Business Development and Online Learning Consultant at MSM, and Ms. Nikita Muller, Lead Instructional Designer at AGRICOLLEGES International. Together, they guided participants through six intensive, interactive sessions designed to build lasting digital competencies.

What Participants Learned

Participants gained hands-on experience and practical knowledge across key areas of digital education, including:

  • The fundamentals of online and blended learning, and how these differ from traditional face-to-face instruction
  • Effective online didactics and digital facilitation techniques
  • Practical training on the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS), explored from both student and facilitator perspectives
  • Designing customised e-learning action plans tailored to the unique needs of agricultural colleges in Ghana

From Classroom to Digital Champions

The training closed on a celebratory note, with participants recognised as Ghana's new "digital champions" — educators ready to pioneer the integration of e-learning platforms into agricultural curricula. Each participant presented a preliminary action plan for piloting short online courses, forming a concrete roadmap for rolling out digital learning at their institutions.

Dr. Ishak Shaibu, Vice Principal of Kwadaso Agricultural College and CEO of Bunash Enterprise and Farms, spoke to the significance of the milestone:

Why Blended Learning Matters for Ghana's Agricultural Sector

The workshop underscored the transformative potential of blended learning for agricultural institutions. By expanding access to education, improving instructional efficiency, and aligning curricula more closely with labour market demands, online learning offers a sustainable pathway to producing graduates who are technically skilled, digitally literate, and globally competitive. For KAC, this represents a strategic step toward ensuring that the next generation of Ghanaian agripreneurs is future-ready.
